Generally a breakaway kit is installed mounting the battery to the frame but it doesn't have to be. We carry a few different chargers separate from the kits themselves and I've linked our selection for you.

Breakaway pins are not universal, so you wouldn't be able to replace your pin with another brand. However, breakaway switches are universal, so you can mix and match them to work with your UPG Model 42914 breakaway kit.

Unless your state requires a 9AH battery you actually only need a 5AH battery for a HydraStar EOH actuator. For example, the HydraStar # HBA16 which is rated for disc brakes is compatible with a 5AH breakaway battery kit.

Part # PTW2997 works great for charging your breakaway battery when the trailer is not in use. This product is easy to hook up and fairly inexpensive compared to the price of a new battery. I strongly recommend this product.
